Did you have a bad experience with abortion and don’t want another one? We understand how difficult it may have been for you. You have two other options: adoption and parenting. Here is more information about each one as you explore your options.
The adoption process gives you options when coming up with an adoption plan for your unique situation. As the birth mother, you have control of the process and can choose the adoption plan that’s right for you.
Here are three types of adoption plans to choose from:
- Open Adoption: With open adoption, you can meet the family you’ve selected before your child is born. You can build a relationship with the adoptive family and your child by exchanging identifying information, including full names, addresses, and phone numbers.
- Closed Adoption: If you would rather not have contact with the adoptive family, you would choose a closed adoption. An adoption agency would choose a family based on your preferences. No identifying information is shared, and no contact with your child is made.
- Semi-Open Adoption: This plan lets you have contact with the adoptive family and your child since all emails or letters go through the adoption agency. It’s more private than an open adoption because you don’t share any identifying information.
Does parenting seem impossible right now? It can seem like you have a lot more questions than answers right now, but it takes time to understand this journey. Sometimes it’s enough to just get started and be ok with not knowing everything right away.
At Waterlife PCC, we want to inform and equip you with the support and resources at no cost to you. You can do parenting well with the right support. Parenting takes a village.
